A Woodland man faces assault and other charges after allegedly firing a gun at a woman in her East Davis residence.

Davis police Lt. Glenn Glasgow said officers were summoned at about 8:20 p.m. Sunday to the 1600 block of East Eighth Street, where the victim said a man that she knew had fired a handgun in her direction as she argued with her ex-boyfriend. The woman was not injured during the incident.

The suspect, 35-year-old Sergio Chavez, was taken into custody shortly after 7:30 a.m. Monday near Main and Fourth streets in Woodland, Glasgow said. He was lodged at the Yolo County Jail on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon, burglary and being a felon in possession of a firearm.
