High-speed chase leads to DUI, evading arrest charges

A Dixon man was arrested on drunken-driving and drug charges Sunday after allegedly leading a California Highway Patrol officer on a high-speed chase from Davis to Woodland.

Daniel Lopez, 18, was first spotted at about 10:20 p.m. driving his Chevy Malibu at speeds over 100 mph on Highway 113 at County Road 29, CHP Officer Cindy Leal said. The officer attempted to stop the car, which continued traveling toward Woodland, exited at Main Street and made several turns before yielding on Donnelly Circle.

Leal said Lopez showed symptoms of alcohol impairment and had a baggie of amphetamines in his possession. He was lodged at the Yolo County Jail on suspicion of evading a peace officer, DUI, driving on a suspended license and drug possession.
