By From page A3 | July 07, 2013

A 2-year-old Woodland boy who died after being struck by a vehicle Thursday morning has been identified by Sacramento County coroner’s officials as Elijah Lewis.

The boy, who would have turned 3 on July 27, died of injuries he sustained in the parking lot of the Bel Air shopping center on Pioneer Avenue in Woodland, according to the Woodland Police Department.

He was pronounced dead at the UC Davis Medical Center in Sacramento, where he was transported following the 9 a.m. collision involving a Jeep Grand Cherokee driven by a 67-year-old Woodland woman.

Police have called the incident an “unfortunate, unintentional accident,” but said it remains under investigation. Anyone with information is asked to call the Woodland Police Department at 530-661-7880.
