A suspect who allegedly exposed himself Saturday at UC Davis fled on foot when approached by an officer, leading to a chase with city and campus police.

The UCD Police Department received a report at 3:53 p.m. from a female student who witnessed a man masturbating in the school’s arboretum, according to university spokeswoman Julia Ann Easley.

Easley said UCD Officer Shawn Bowers identified the suspect in Parking Structure 5, adjacent to Old Davis Road and A Street. Once Bowers approached, he dashed through the arboretum and Aggie Village before jumping a fence at First and C streets.

Three more officers joined Bowers as the suspect escaped into the backyards of neighboring residences. Davis Police Department lent six of their own cruisers to the chase.

However, the officers were unable to locate the suspect and discontinued their search as of 4:40 p.m.

Easley described the suspect as a 6-foot tall white male in his 20s. He was last seen wearing all-black running clothes.

UCD Police Department encourages anyone with details to contact the dispatch at 530-752-1230 or the 24-hour anonymous crime tip line at 530-752-9944.
