By From page A2 | March 30, 2014

A store clerk was punched Friday just outside the Barista Brew Café in the 400 block of G Street in downtown Davis, police report.

Described as a Davis transient, Marc Duncan, 40, entered the café about noon where employees said they saw him stealing, police said.

The clerk asked Duncan to leave and threatened to call the police. An argument ensued just outside the café, and Duncan allegedly punched the clerk in the shoulder, causing no injuries.

Duncan was identified about an hour later by his tattoos, police said. The clerk issued a citizen’s arrest, and Duncan was charged with a misdemeanor for battery and taken into police custody. Police said he could receive a fine or probation but no jail time.
