A Chicago man has been arrested for the alleged rape of a teenage girl early Friday morning in West Davis, police said. Najee Ave, 23, is facing multiple felony charges, Davis police Sgt. Dan Powell said.

The assault occurred at about 3 a.m. in a residence in the 2000 block of Glacier Drive, Powell said. The victim was staying with a friend when it took place. Police declined to reveal her age.

Ave is a companion of someone the victim knew, Powell said, characterizing the crime as an acquaintance rape.

The victim called police about noon Friday to report the rape, Powell said. Ave was contacted and arrested in connection with the crime at 7 p.m. the same day.

Ave is facing charges of rape, sexual penetration with a foreign object and child cruelty. He was booked into Yolo County Jail on Friday evening and is in custody in lieu of $150,000 bail.

He will be arraigned in Yolo Superior Court on Aug. 7, if he does not post bail.
