On the day his case was scheduled to go to trial, a Davis rape suspect admitted to several felony charges in exchange for a prison sentence of 20 years to life.
Christopher Lynn Romone Turk, 26, pleaded no contest Tuesday to forcible rape with an enhancement for use of a deadly weapon, robbery and a sentencing enhancement stemming from the rape count, according to the Yolo County District Attorney’s Office.
Turk was accused of sexually assaulting a woman on the Davis Community Church grounds, 412 C St., on Jan. 26 as she searched for an animal adoption center. Police said Turk also demanded the woman’s cell phone, which led to the robbery allegations.
He was arrested several days later after police received a tip from a citizen who recognized his description from media reports.
A sentencing hearing was set for Dec. 13, at which time Turk is expected to receive a prison term of 15 years to life for the rape count, plus an additional five years for the robbery, prosecutors said. He remains in Yolo County Jail custody.
Turk’s attorney, Deputy Public Defender Richard Van Zandt, declined to comment on the plea deal.
