Police seek suspect in assault attempt

By From page A2 | October 30, 2013

Davis police are seeking a man who tried to sexually assault a woman in an apartment complex parking lot Monday night.

Lt. Glenn Glasgow said the woman had just parked and retrieved her belongings from her vehicle in the 600 block of Alvarado Avenue when she was confronted by the suspect, who forced her back toward her car.

“Once at the vehicle, the male suspect attempted to sexually assault the female in the parking lot,” Glasgow said. “The female was able to defend herself, which allowed her the opportunity to escape from the male.”

Officers searched the area but were unable to find the suspect, described as an African-American male about 40 years old, standing 5-foot-11 and weighing 220 pounds, bald with a wide-set nose and salt-and-pepper beard. He was last seen wearing a black jacket and dark-colored pants.

Anyone who may have witnessed this incident or has information that could lead to the suspect’s identity is urged to call the Davis Police Department’s investigations division at 530-747-5400.
