Davis police are investigating an attempted carjacking that occurred Sunday in South Davis.

According to Lt. Glenn Glasgow, the victim was attempting to back out of a parking stall at KFC in the 1600 block of Research Park Drive shortly before 6 p.m. when a silver minivan blocked the car’s path. A passenger then emerged from the van and pointed a handgun at the victim, who was able to flee without injury and contact police.

Glasgow said officers conducted an “extensive search” of the area but were unable to find the van or the suspect, described as a heavyset 18- to 20-year-old Hispanic male last seen wearing a black hooded sweatshirt.

Anyone with information about this incident, or who may have witnessed it, is asked to contact the Davis Police Department at 530-747-5400.
