A Woodland couple was injured Friday night when their car was broadsided by a transportation van northeast of Davis, according to the California Highway Patrol.
Officer Bryan Konvalin said 24-year-old Ainsley Sayo Reyes of Davis was driving the Ford E-350 van with 11 passengers eastbound on County Road 29 and failed to obey a stop sign at the intersection of County Road 95. The van struck the side of a Volkswagen Passat traveling southbound on Road 95.
The impact caused the Passat to go out of control and overturn into a ditch, Konvalin said. Driver Cornelis Adrianes Rotteveel, 74, of Woodland, suffered lacerations to his face and neck. His wife, 75-year-old Maria Rotteveel, may have fractured her pelvis, ribs and right hand in the collision.
Maria Rotteveel was taken by helicopter to the UC Davis Medical Center in Sacramento, where her husband also went by ambulance, Konvalin said. Neither Reyes nor her passengers were hurt in the 7 p.m. crash, he added.
