An 18-year-old man has been arrested on attempted murder and other charges in connection with Thursday night’s shooting at a Woodland house, police said.
Julio Cesar Chavez of Woodland was in a van that drove by the shooting scene while officers were investigating the incident in the 900 block of Lincoln Avenue. Several shots had been fired at the occupied house, though no one was injured.
The van was white with brown trim — matching a description of the suspect vehicle provided by witnesses to the shooting, Woodland police Lt. Anthony Cucchi said.
Officers conducted a vehicle stop and arrested Chavez at about 12:30 a.m. Friday, two hours after the shooting. He was lodged at the Yolo County Jail on suspicion of attempted murder and discharge of a firearm into an inhabited dwelling.
“A motive for this crime has yet to be determined and this investigation is still ongoing,” Cucchi said in a news release. Anyone with information about this case is asked to call the Woodland Police Department at (530) 666-2411.
Callers may remain anonymous, Cucchi said.
