Davis police arrested a Sacramento man Thursday following a two-month investigation into thefts targeting landscaping companies.
Lt. Glenn Glasgow said Davis police took nine reports between Aug. 27 and Oct. 15 in which a suspect had stolen equipment from landscapers, resulting in significant losses. Similar thefts were reported at UC Davis and in Woodland.
Glasgow said Davis police identified a possible suspect in the case, arresting 18-year-old Omar Zavala of Sacramento after executing multiple search warrants in cooperation with the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Department. Zavala was lodged at the Yolo County Jail on grand theft charges, and Glasgow said additional counts are being considered in the case.
