Two Sacramento residents were arrested Sunday night after reportedly admitting to stealing bikes in Davis, police reported Tuesday.

According to Davis police Lt. Glenn Glasgow, the pair were in spotted shortly before midnight in a vehicle deemed suspicious and followed to an Alvarado Avenue apartment complex, where an officer made contact with the occupants.

“During the contact, the officer determined that the driver of the vehicle had a suspended driver’s license,” Glasgow said. “The officer also observed bicycles in the bed of the truck which appeared to be concealed. A check of the bicycles revealed that one had been stolen earlier that day in Davis.”

Glasgow said the driver, 24-year-old Sheila Wells, and passenger Fernando Aguilar, 22, admitted to coming to Davis to steal bicycles. Both were jailed on suspicion of conspiracy and possessing stolen property, and police recovered four bikes that had been stolen earlier in the day.
