I am a parent of one of the UC Davis students whose apartment was destroyed in this Feb 11 fire. The Davis Fire Dept sealed off the damaged apartments due to possible Asbestos contamination during the fire containment, and all possessions were to be tested for safety over a few weeks or months. Last Saturday, my son was instructed hastily to remove his damaged possessions by Monday, or they would be “destroyed”. He witnessed one worker “wiping down some of his items” but not all. When my son asked for a written notice of safety, the worker could not provide anything. We are frantic that the Asbestos Abatement has been badly handled by the Apartment owner.
