UCD warns of fundraising scam

UC Davis and Sacramento State University are warning the public about a scam in which people are going door-to-door asking for money to support music programs.

UCD said neither the Cal Aggie Marching Band-uh, the department of music nor the department of theater and dance raise money door-to-door. The scam artists have told residents they’re raising money for a trip to London, according to a news release.

Davis residents are advised to contact the police at (530) 747-5400 if they believe they have more information about the scam. Potential UCD donors interested in verifying the legitimacy of a fundraising solicitation may contact the University Development Office at (530) 754-4438.

Those who would like support the Band-uh may contact (530) 752-9239 or slabaugh@ucdavis.edu. Those who would like to donated to the departments of music or theater and dance may do so at http://giving.ucdavis.edu.
