The victim of a fatal crash Thursday morning north of Winters has been identified as Jose Luis Fierros, a 25-year-old Winters resident, Yolo County coroner’s officials said Friday.

Fierros was a passenger in a 2000 Ford Crown Victoria whose driver, Winters resident Francisco Quezada, 24, drifted off County Road 89, overcorrected, then struck an elevated embankment before rolling the vehicle several times, according to the California Highway Patrol.

Fierros, who was partially ejected during the crash, died multiple blunt-force injuries, coroner’s officials said. Quezada was hospitalized with major injuries.

The crash remains under investigation.
