A West Sacramento man has been convicted of robbing a Woodland woman in front of the victim’s 8-year-old son, the Yolo County District Attorney’s Office announced Tuesday.
Vincent Sloan, 32, faces up to six years in state prison at his Sept. 4 sentencing before Yolo Superior Court Judge Stephen L. Mock, District Attorney Jeff Reisig said in a news release.
Authorities said the victim, the owner of a Woodland check-cashing business, had just returned home from depositing checks on April 10 when Sloan, wearing dark clothing and a mask, slapped her and demanded her cash bag as the woman’s young son looked on.
Sloan and an accomplice fled the scene in a car, which struck another vehicle at the Main Street onramp to southbound Interstate 5 and later crashed off an embankment, according to Reisig. Sloan’s DNA reportedly was found in the car, which had been registered in his name.
In addition to robbery, a jury on Monday convicted Sloan of hit-and-run, Reisig said.
