Woodland police arrested three people early Tuesday in connection with a vehicle burglary.
Sgt. Steve Sexton said a resident in the 1400 block of Towse Drive called police at about 1:40 p.m. to report that he had interrupted the burglary in front of his home and tried to detain one of the suspects. The burglar fled on foot, as did a vehicle into which he had been loading stereo equipment.
Several minutes later, an officer spotted the vehicle at an East Main Street convenience store and, once backup arrived, made a felony car stop, Sexton said. Police detained four people, three of whom later were placed under arrest.
Woodland residents Jason Hatanaka, 21, and Clifford McAnelly, 19, were arrested on suspicion of vehicle burglary and conspiracy, while 19-year-old Cubertino Silva of Woodland faces charges of obstructing an officer, Sexton said. The officers reported recovering $2,000 worth of stereo equipment.
