Woodland fire leaves metal shop damaged
Woodland Fire Department is investigating the cause of a fire that heavily damaged a metal-shop building early this morning in a rural part of the city.
Acting Battalion Chief Ernie Fatta said the fire was reported at about 3:30 a.m. today in the 16600 block of County Road 98B. Crews arrived to find the large metal shop fully involved in flames with the nearest fire hydrant some 1,500 feet away.
A nearby home was unoccupied and undamaged, Fatta said.
It took about an hour for fire crews to control the blaze, Fatta said. The building and its contents sustained major damage, though no injuries were reported.
Mutual aid from the Davis, Willow Oak and Yolo fire departments was deployed for assistance at the fire scene as well as for station coverage in the city during the incident.
