Woodland man stabbed while offering cigarette

A Woodland man reported being attacked and stabbed in the back by a group of teens early Friday morning.

Sgt. Aaron Delao said the 22-year-old victim was walking on Industrial Way shortly before 6 a.m. when he passed a group of four teens, one of whom asked for a cigarette. As the victim got out his pack, “the suspects attacked him, punching him repeatedly about the head,” Delao said.

As the victim turned to run, he “felt a strike to his back,” which turned out to be a single stab wound, Delao said. The victim ran several blocks to Donnelly Circle, where he summoned help from a citizen who in turned contacted police.

The victim was taken to Woodland Memorial Hospital for treatment of his injury, Delao said. He described the suspects as Latino males in their late teens, wearing dark clothing.

Anyone with information about this incident is asked to call the Woodland Police Department at 530-661-7800.
