Woodland teen faces kidnapping charges

By From page A4 | September 18, 2012

Woodland police arrested a 16-year-old boy Sunday on suspicion of kidnapping his baby from the child’s mother.

Sgt. Steve Sexton said officers were summoned at about 10:30 p.m. to a home in the 1200 block of Alice Street. Family members said the suspect argued with the baby’s mother, also 16, and forcibly took the 5-week-old infant.

The baby was returned to the house unharmed about 45 minutes later, Sexton said.

The teenage father fled before police arrived, but officers were waiting when he returned to the Alice Street house Sunday afternoon and took him into custody, Sexton said. He was lodged at Yolo County Juvenile Hall on suspicion of kidnapping, as well as on four juvenile bench warrants.
