A 17-year-old Woodland girl was killed early Friday morning when she was struck by a vehicle on Interstate 5 by a driver who then fled the scene.

The girl was riding in a vehicle with another person around 12:34 a.m. on Friday when the two got into an altercation and the driver pulled onto the shoulder north of County Road 103, the California Highway Patrol reported.

The girl got out of the vehicle and ran northbound along the freeway before being struck by a vehicle traveling in the same direction, the highway patrol said. The vehicle then fled the scene.

Anyone with information regarding the incident is urged to call the Woodland Area CHP office at 530-662-4685.
