Child actor and rising television star JJ Totah has landed a new show in prime time beginning in the fall.

Totah will be a regular on the ABC show, “Back in the Game,” airing Wednesdays at 8:30 p.m. — right before the hit comedy, “Modern Family.”

“Back in the Game” is about a single mom and former all-star softball player (played by actress Maggie Lawson) who moves back in with her father (James Caan) and finds herself coaching a youth baseball team made up of athletically challenged misfit kids. Totah will play the role of Michael, one of those kids.

Since January, JJ, 11, has had a recurring role on the Disney Channel’s popular show, “Jessie.”

He is the son of Davis residents Suheil and Christine Totah and brother of Alex, a student at Da Vinci Charter Academy, and Camille, a student at UCLA.

JJ got his start in acting with the Davis Musical Theatre Company and later performed with the Sacramento Theatre Company and River City Theatre Company.

For the past two years, he’s been living in Southern California with his mom, auditioning for and landing roles in films, web-only shows, commercials and television and performing stand-up comedy routes at the Hollywood Improv.

Landing the role on “Jessie” was a dream come true for JJ, who now moves on to an even bigger stage on ABC prime time.
