Davis educators honored Monday

The Yolo County School Boards Association will host the second annual Excellence in Education Awards night on Monday. Community leaders, parents and all those interested in educational excellence are invited to attend.

The event will begin at 5 p.m. in the Conference Center at the Yolo County Office of Education, 1280 Santa Anita Court, Woodland. Appetizers will be served. Tickets are $10 in advance or $15 at the door.

The honorees from Davis will be:

* Kevin French, deputy superintendent for human resources;

* The Valley Oak special education preschool, represented by program leader Patrick McGrew; and

* Nancy Hall, a secretary at Birch Lane Elementary School.

Awards also will be presented to staff and programs in the Esparto Unified School District, the Los Rios Community College District, Washington Unified School District (West Sacramento), Woodland Joint Unified School District, Winters Joint Unified School District, Woodland Community College, Yocha Dehe Wintun Nation/Yocha Dehe Wintun Academy and Yolo County Office of Education.
