Davis Food Co-op announces Souper Bowl victor
The Davis Food Co-op announces the donation of $4,012 to the Elderly Nutrition Program of Yolo County, the proceeds of its seventh annual “Souper Bowl,” held Feb. 24 at the Veterans’ Memorial Center.
The event offered soups from several Davis restaurants, including Caffé Italia, de Vere’s Irish Pub, Dos Coyotes, Fat Face, Monticello Bistro, Osteria Fasulo, Our House, Seasons, Stone Soup & Catering to Go, Tommy J’s, the Co-op Deli and UC Davis Dining Services,
More than 300 people attended the event, and awarded the title of “Best Soup” to first-time competitor de Vere’s for Shrimp Bisque. Stone Soup & Catering to Go ran a close second with a Salmon & Meyer Lemon Chowder.
Norwood 4H Club volunteers provided “invaluable help” with the event, a news release said.
