Davis Kiwanis Club donates to local organizations

By From page A16 | September 15, 2013

The Davis Kiwanis Club recently announced more than $15,000 in charitable donations to organizations and causes that serve the local community.

Included among the recipients of substantial gifts were Davis Community Meals, Yolo County Backpacks for Kids, Yolo County Foster Care, Short-Term Emergency Aid Committee (STEAC), Suicide Prevention of Yolo County, Elderly Nutrition Program and Camps Kessem and Okizu, which serve children and families struggling with cancer.

The Davis club is also one of the largest supporters of the Kiwanis Family House, a hotel built by Sacramento area Kiwanis clubs on the grounds of the UC Davis Medical Center. The Family House serves families who otherwise could not afford lodging while their loved ones are undergoing treatements at the UC Davis and Shriner’s hospitals.

The Kiwanis club welcomes everyone who wants to enjoy camarderie and have fun while serving their community. For more information, contact club president Sue Huscroft at [email protected].
