BRIEFS: Neuropathy support group meets

By March 3, 2011

Do you, or someone you care for, have burning, tingling or numbness in your feet or hands? This may stem from a form of neuropathy that can have many causes.

To learn more from others with similar symptoms and to receive support, attend the next meeting of the Davis Peripheral Neuropathy Information and Support Group from 3:30 to 5 p.m. Tuesday at the Davis Senior Center, 646 A St. A member will share his personal story in dealing with fibromyalgia and neuropathy.

For more information, call Retta Gilbert at (530) 747-0186 or Mary Sprifke at (530) 756-5102.

Arboretum Friends enjoy members-only plant sale

Get the first pick of beautiful spring garden plants at the UC Davis Arboretum’s member appreciation plant sale from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday at the teaching nursery on Garrod Drive on campus. The sale celebrates the 40th anniversary of the Friends of the UCD Arboretum and is open to members only. But new Friends may join at the door, and all members will receive a free plant and a 10 percent discount on purchases.

Live music, refreshments and children’s activities are planned, and expert garden advice will be available.

Annual membership in the Arboretum’s community support group costs $40 for an individual, $60 for a family or $15 for a student.
