DCC set to usher in Lenten season

By
From page A4 | February 27, 2014 |

All are welcome to kick off the season of Lent at Davis Community Church. Join DCC at 8:30 and 10:30 a.m. Sunday, March 2, in the Fellowship Hall, 441 D St., for Mardi Gras. The music is jazz and the mood is lively. A skit provides the message for the day. Even the beads are provided.

Lent begins with an Ash Wednesday service on March 5, a reminder that life begins anew. The service begins at 7:30 p.m. in the sanctuary at Fourth and C streets.

DCC begins the Lenten devotional season with the opportunity to read and discuss a book that explores the idea of vocation and true calling. “Let Your Life Speak” by Parker Palmer is written with wisdom, compassion and gentle humor. Palmer, an author, educator and activist, comes from the Quaker tradition and invites the reader to listen to the inner teacher to discern a sense of meaning and purpose.
