Local residents gather to check out the roots and a 4-foot-diameter tree trunk after a huge evergreen toppled over Saturday morning about 11:30 a.m. at Emerson Junior High School, 2121 Calaveras Ave. in West Davis. The tree, tall enough to reach the front yard of a home across the street, caused no damage or injuries, police said. Calaveras was blocked off for several hours.
