The smell of sweet strawberries and other fresh, locally grown produce will soon fill the air at the Dixon Farmers Market, returning Saturday and continuing through Sept. 24.
The market takes place from 8 a.m. to noon each Saturday at the Women’s Improvement Club Park, at North First and East C streets next to the public library. The market is brought to the community by the efforts of the Downtown Dixon Business Association and the city of Dixon.
“We are excited to be hosting the wonderful Farmers Market,” said DDBA President Jill Orr. “It helps give our residents an opportunity to come out and enjoy a community gathering while shopping for healthier foods.”
Each year the event has grown with the number of vendors who provide a large selection of local and home grown products. Each week, the DDBA will offer a booth free of charge to civic organizations to promote their causes which benefit Dixon in various capacities. In addition, the DDBA also offers a free booth to its members so that people also have the chance to get to know more about their local businesses and services.
