DMA offers summer Animation Camps

Davis Media Access announces open registration for its popular summer Animation Camps. DMA is a nonprofit, membership-based media center offering community members the tools and training to develop and distribute their own media.

“Our training is generally geared to individuals aged 15 and older, so Animation Camp presents a unique summer learning opportunity for younger kids, aged 11-15,” said Jeff Shaw, DMA’s production manager.

The course is team-taught by DMA staffer Alex Silva-Sadder with assistance from college and high school interns.

DMA will offer two sessions of Animation Camp, July 7-11 and July 14-18. During Animation Camp, participants will learn how to plan and storyboard an animation, record dialogue and effects, and light and create stop-motion animations. Each class is limited to six participants.

Camps conclude with a screening of the students’ work. Session dates and registration information are available at www.davismedia.org under “Kid Vid Workshops.”

All workshops take place at the media center, at 1623 Fifth St. in Davis. For more information, email [email protected] or call 530-757-2419.
