Donate, volunteer for wreath project

By From page A5 | December 05, 2012

Donations are still being collected for holiday wreaths that will be laid on the graves of every veteran at the Sacramento Valley National Cemetery in Dixon. About 11,500 wreaths are needed this year, each one costing $8, but donations in any amount are much appreciated.

Checks may be sent to RememberAVet.net, P.O. Box 773, Winters, CA 95694. Any excess funds will be used to start the 2013 project.

Volunteers of all ages are invited and encouraged to attend and participate in the wreath-laying ceremony at 9 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 15, at the cemetery, 5810 Midway Road. The event goes on, rain or shine. Wreaths also may be picked up the week prior to the public event for family and friends wanting a more private remembrance (check the website for dates/times to pick up wreaths).

To receive regular updates about the annual wreath project, join the email group by sending a message to [email protected] and visit the website at www.wreathproject.org.
