By From page A2 | July 04, 2014

Yolo County’s Avoid the 8 DUI task force will be cracking down on drug- and alcohol-impaired driving throughout the Fourth of July weekend, deploying officers to a DUI/driver’s license checkpoint and saturation patrols until midnight Sunday.

Scheduled enforcement events include a multi-agency checkpoint from 8 p.m. Saturday until 2 a.m. Sunday in the city of West Sacramento, as well as roving saturation patrols in the cities of Davis, Woodland and Winters, and in the unincorporated areas of Yolo County.

In addition, the California Highway Patrol is deploying all available officers onto freeways and county roads throughout the weekend, particularly for today’s Fourth of July festivities.

Avoid the 8 task force funding is provided by a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety, through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
