The school gets most of its dollars based on average daily attendance. The state does not pay based on performance. If the District gives this child an excused absence, the people who work for the District, who spend that money, would have fewer dollars for themselves. That is why they are loathe to excuse any kids from attending, no matter what the education code says.

Bless those teachers! I convinced them it was a good lesson in civics. Davinci High let my daughter out of school for the whole morning to go to a big I.T. convention w/me in dowtown Sac. I really loved the staff at Davinci. What great motivators.
