Elementary music information sessions offered

New elementary school music students — and a parent — should plan on attending one of the upcoming meetings with a music teacher as the school year begins.

Students in grades 4, 5 and 6 can enroll for beginning string lessons. Students in grades 5 and 6 can enroll for beginning band lessons.

New elementary band students, from any elementary school in the district, can attend a meeting on either Tuesday, Sept. 10, or Wednesday, Sept. 11, at 7:30 p.m. in the band room at Davis High School, 315 W. 14th St.

String meetings are planned at different schools on different dates:

* For beginning string students from Birch Lane and Montgomery elementary schools, there will be a meeting at Montgomery, 1441 Danbury St., at 7:30 p.m. Monday;

* For beginning string students from Chávez and Korematsu elementary schools, there will be a meeting at Patwin Elementary, 2222 Shasta Drive, at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 10;

* For beginning string students from Willett and Patwin elementary schools, there will be a meeting at Patwin, 2222 Shasta Drive, at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 11; and

* For beginning string students from Pioneer and North Davis elementary schools, there will be a meeting at Patwin Elementary, 2222 Shasta Drive, at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 12.
