Spend your spring break with Explorit! Our museum will be open every day from 1 to 5 p.m. April 2-13 with plenty of hands-on science fun.

Next Monday through Friday, we will be featuring a new challenge in our Challenge Center. The Challenge Center is a place for budding engineers, architects and design enthusiasts to test their skills and imaginations by transforming recyclable materials like yogurt cups and toilet paper tubes into creative and functional objects.

The challenge for spring break will be to design a creature. Can you make it tall? Can you make it tiny? Can you make it move?

Will it look like a creature in our world today, or will it be something nobody has ever seen before? If your creature were real, where would it live? What would it eat? Let your imagination run wild and see what you can create in the Challenge Center this spring.

Admission to the Challenge Center is free with paid admission to the Forces of Nature exhibit. In the Forces of Nature exhibit, you can experience the phenomena that shape the world around us.

In our earth science area, you can generate your own earthquake or learn how to measure the depths of the sea. Or check out our energy corner to see the sun’s power in action or build your own circuit to see how you can harness electricity to turn on a light.

Investigate how technology works with natural phenomena by examining and testing different airplane wings and wind currents. Or build and test a helicopter or parachute in our wind tunnel.

And be sure to visit our resident animals. Blizzard the blue tongue skink, Connie the ball python, Spike and Isa the bearded dragons, along with the cockroaches, and darkling beetles are waiting for you.

From Monday, April 9, to Friday, April 13, in addition to the Forces of Nature exhibit, we will be featuring NanoDays, a special showcase of activities about nanoscience and nanotechnology investigating the very tiniest aspects of our lives.

As always, Explorit members enjoy free admission to the exhibit, as well as discounts on summer camps and in the Explorit store, so apply for membership today.

* NanoDays Festival: April 9-13 from 1 to 5 p.m. Join us for hands-on nanoscale science and engineering activities and find out about the potential impact of nano science on the future. Events are organized by participants in the Nanoscale Informal Science Education Network (NISE Net).
