“The Davis Farmers Market Cookbook” is the winner in the regional cookbooks category of The Beverly Hills Book Awards, announced Monday. This is the third national award for the cookbook, the other two being first place from Writers Digest for nonfiction and the Indie Award for Excellence in the regional cookbook category.
“ ‘The Davis Farmers Market Cookbook — Tasting California’s Small Farms’ truly embodies the excellence that this award was created to celebrate,” said judges for the Beverly Hills Book Awards.
Coauthors Georgeanne Brennan and Ann M. Evans have appeared on local television and radio and given numerous talks and cooking demonstrations. Evans will give a free spring canning demonstration at Davis Ace from 2 to 3 p.m. Sunday.
And now they’re doing something new — the Davis Farmers Market Virtual Cookbook Club.
“We are enthusiastic to invite our readers to join a national trend of slowing down, shopping at the market with friends and family, and then cooking a meal together from our monthly menu,” the authors say. “We have created a year of seasonal menus featuring the recipes in our book, plus new recipes from our personal collections.”
