Members of Davis Professional Firefighters Local 3494 will stake out the intersection of Cowell Boulevard and Pole Line Road in South Davis this afternoon to raise money for the Fire Department’s annual Thanksgiving food basket program.

The “Fill the Boot” campaign will run from 2 to 5 p.m., said Bobby Weist, president of Local 3494.

“We are way down on donations, and we have more people on the list than baskets,” Weist said.

The program has provided as many as 750 families in need with turkeys and all the trimmings for a traditional Thanksgiving dinner.

Those wishing to contribute to the program but who are unable to get to the “Fill the Boot” fundraiser may send donations to the Davis Fire Department, 530 Fifth St., Davis CA 95616.
