A city of Davis fire engine collided with a gray Ford Focus at Fifth and L streets about 8:45 a.m. today, police reported. One firefighter and one person from the passenger vehicle were taken to Sutter Davis Hospital with mild to moderate injuries, according to police Sgt. Rod Rifredi. Police were unable to say how many passengers were in either vehicle.

The driver’s side door of the Ford was smashed in, cracking the windshield. Both airbags deployed.

Parts of Fifth and L streets were blocked off for at least a couple of hours after the crash, which remains under investigation.
