The 20th anniversary of National Health and Fitness Day will be celebrated Wednesday, May 29, at the Davis Senior Center, 646 A St. Keynote speaker Debbie Eernisse is a longtime fitness instructor at the center.
Her expertise and motivating teaching style have made her classes so popular that people line up months in advance to register, a center spokeswoman said. Eernisse, an occupational therapy assistant and personal fitness trainer, will explain the benefits of staying active and how to make it happen.
Senior Health and Fitness Day also includes a fitness walk led by the Cal Aggie Marching Band-uh and a healthy breakfast, courtesy of Atria Covell Gardens. The day’s activities begin at 8:45 a.m. and continue through 11 a.m.
Tickets are $7 per person; sign up at the center’s front desk by Friday. Those who donate a piece of jewelry for September’s jewelry fundraiser get a $2 discount.
