Food, fun and fireworks at Celebrate Davis!
Every now and then, we take time to celebrate what’s great about our community. Thursday’s Celebrate Davis! festival, sponsored by the Davis Chamber of Commerce, offered just such an opportunity, drawing thousands of people to Community Park for an evening of food, fun and fireworks.
The annual event reminds us what’s so wonderful about living, working and playing in Davis. It features more than 100 booths showcasing local businesses and nonprofits, food, music, children’s games and an aerial fireworks show, presented this year by the University Retirement Community.
A dunk tank provided an extra wave of fun, as local politicians, coaches, business leaders, school leaders, UC Davis representatives and The Davis Enterprise’s own Bob Dunning sat in the hot seat and goaded all comers to plunk down their dollars for a chance to send them splashing.
An expanded Family Fun Zone was situated near the Rainbow City playground in the park. Activities there included Gizmo’s Rolling Video Games, a mobile video game theater; Rocknasium’s climbing wall; bounce houses for kids of all ages; pony rides; a skatepark exhibition; and face-painting.
