Four-day class offers tips on writing college application essays

The Davis Adult and Continuing Education School is offering a four-day summer course titled “Writing the College Essay & Completing College Applications” on July 21-24.

College admissions essays will be drafted and revised responding to chosen college admissions essay prompts. Participants will learn how to organize and focus personal information, choose appropriate wording for both context and audience, and use proper syntax and grammar.

The course also will review a variety of college application topics, including University of California and California State University system a-g requirements, early application vs. early admission, SAT vs. ACT, college admission facts, UC/CSU application (deadlines, fees and supplements) and financial aid (scholarships, grants, loans).

The instructor will be Eric Moody.

The class will meet from 10 a.m. to noon July 21-24 at Davis High School, 315 W. 14th St. Tuition is $60.
