Free garden, compost workshops set

By From page A3 | April 19, 2013

Two free gardening workshops will be offered Saturday at the Food Bank of Yolo County’s demonstration garden, 1244 Fortna Ave. in Woodland. Both workshops are free and will be led by Yolo County UC Cooperative Extension Master Gardeners Steve Radosevich and Robert Dragoon.

A spring gardening class will run from 10 to 11 a.m., teaching participants how to grow such goodies as strawberries, corn, spinach and and broccoli. In a composting class from 11 a.m. to noon, participants will learn how to turn garden, lawn and kitchen waste into a valuable soil amendment.

To register for either class, contact Amanda McCarthy at 530-668-0690 or [email protected].
