Free museum access honors military service

Active-duty military personnel and their families are invited to tour the Gibson House Yolo County Historical Museum for free on the first Saturday and the last Sunday of each month.

The museum once again is participating in the Blue Star Museums Program, which offers free admission to more than 1,500 museums across America to active-duty military personnel and their families between Memorial Day and Labor Day this year.

Active-duty military include Army, Navy, Air Force, Marines, Coast Guard and active-duty National Guard and reserve members.

The Gibson House, 512 Gibson Road in Woodland, is open from 1 to 4 p.m. on the first Saturday and the last Sunday of each month. For more information, visit www.gibsonhouse.org

To find out which museums are participating in the Blue Star Museums Program, visit www.arts.gov/bluestarmuseums. The site includes a list of participating museums and a map to help with visit planning.
