By From page A3 | December 20, 2013

Davis Downtown will offer a “stress-free shopping weekend” on Saturday and Sunday by providing free parking all day, the local merchants group has announced.

Downtown visitors may enjoy free parking in all two-hour curbside spots, 20-minute parking spots, surface lots (paid and non-paid) and parking structures. Only the privately owned parking lot behind the Davis Commons shopping center at First and E streets is excluded.

“The holiday season can be stressful enough without worrying about getting a parking ticket,” said Nina Gatewood, Davis Downtown’s deputy director, in a news release. “With free parking, visitors can spend the day in downtown Davis and explore all the unique shopping opportunities it has to offer.”

Gatewood said Davis Downtown is collaborating with the city of Davis, small businesses and other community leaders to help promote myriad events and activities during this holiday season.
