Free shredding services set April 27

By From page A5 | April 19, 2013

Davis residents can clean out their home offices on Saturday, April 27, at a free shredding event, courtesy of Davis Waste Removal, which contracts with the city for all of Davis’ garbage, recycling and green waste removal.

DWR is partnering with Absolute Secured Shredding of Sacramento to offer the service to residential customers from 9 a.m. to noon at 2727 Second St. in Davis. The limit is four 11-by-14-inch file boxes or an equivalent amount. Customers may drop off their material or watch it be shredded.

“Tax season is over and spring cleaning season has arrived, so we wanted to give our customers the chance to clean out their home offices and get organized without laboring over a shredder for hours,” said John Geisler, Davis Waste Removal operations manager.

Experts recommend that residents shred all materials that could pose a risk of identity theft, including credit card offers, receipts, bills and bank statements. Once shredded, documents will be recycled, providing an environmentally friendly method for disposing of sensitive materials.

Davis Waste Removal serves the waste and recycling needs of the city of Davis and other customers. Services include residential and commercial garbage pickup, recycling, green waste, street sweeping and debris box services. For more information, visit www.dwrco.com or call 530-756-4646.
