Genealogy expert speaks Tuesday

By From page A3 | March 17, 2013

The public is invited to the Davis Genealogy Club’s free presentation at 1 p.m. Tuesday, “Locating Your Ancestors with Land Records,” by history author and longtime genealogy researcher Kathryn Marshall. Her talk will be at the Davis Senior Center, 646 A St.

Many family history questions can be answered when land records are searched. This free interactive program will demonstrate how the Bureau of Land Management website can be used with GoogleEarth, USGS data, HistoricMapWorks and Animap to identify and display where participants’ ancestors lived.

Marshall is an expert on California history and is the director of the Lodi Family History Center and adviser to the board of the California Pioneer Heritage Foundation. For more information, visit www.davisgenealogy.org or call Lisa Henderson at 530-753-8943.
