Local residents will get a chance to explore their personal pasts at a memoir writing workshop on Thursday, Sept. 15, starting with a brown-bag lunch at noon. The event takes place at the Gibson House Yolo County Historical Museum, 512 Gibson Road in Woodland.
Participants will spend an afternoon with instructor Kristine Mietzner, a Bay Area writer, and meet other writers from beginners to published authors.
“This half-day of writing activities will inspire you to create the memoir of your dreams,” a news release said. “Participants will draft new material and spend time planning writing projects. You’ll get ideas and inspiration to move your writing forward. Writing exercises — some easy and some more challenging — will help you generate ideas for new works and stories you are developing.”
Portions of the $25 registration fee will go toward the museum education fund and workshop expenses. Register by calling the museum office at (530) 666-1045 or visit the instructor’s website at www.kristinemietzner.net.
Workshop participants will be invited on a special tour of the Gibson House at 4 p.m., led by Yolo County Historical Museum President Karen Laffety.
