Gift-quality books available at library sale

By From page A8 | December 06, 2012

The Friends of the Davis Public Library will host its next bimonthly book sale starting Thursday, with members-only access from 5 to 8 p.m. As always, shoppers may join the Friends group at the door.

The sale will be open to all comers from noon to 7 p.m. Friday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday at the Stephens Branch Library, 315 E. 14th St. in Davis.

Many gift-quality books will be available throughout the sale. All hardback books and trade paperbacks will be $2; pocket paperbacks will be $1; children’s books will range from 25 cents to $2; and CDs, DVDs and tapes will be $1.

On Sunday, full bags of books will cost only $5 and “better books” are half price.

Books about parenting, child rearing and children’s education will be found in the smaller side room, along with children’s books. The children’s books are separated into picture books for toddlers, reading books for grade-school kids and books of interest to teenagers.

Proceeds from the sale will fund purchases of new books and provide increased services.

Membership applications for the Friends of the Davis Public Library will be available at the door or online at http://davislibraryfriends.org. Membership includes bimonthly postcards reminders of the book sales. These cards may be turned in at each book sale for $4 off your book purchases.
