Do you like classic cars, live music and barbecued tri-tip?
Westlake Market and Westlake Plaza will present all three at a “Back to the Future” barbecue and fundraiser Saturday for the Davis Schools Foundation.
The event will run from 5 to 8 p.m. at Westlake Plaza, 1260 Lake Blvd. in West Davis. Admission is free; sales of food and beverages will benefit the schools foundation.
“Bring the family for a picnic, enjoy the cars and the music, and help the schools ensure success for our kids as they lead us ‘Back to the Future,’ ” a news release said.
Sudwerk will pour its new Aggie Lager, the proceeds of which benefit UC Davis athletic scholarships.
The event will feature classic cars and trucks provided by the Davis Cruise-In, a classic vehicle club. Anyone with a classic vehicle is welcome to bring it to the event at no charge.
Music by Jan and The Studebakers — tunes from the 1950s and ’60s — will set the stage for the retro evening. The band brings to life some of the greatest music ever written, from The Shangri-las to The Everly Brothers, Patsy Cline to Elvis Presley, Mary Wells to Ricky Nelson.
“We cover all of the favorites with more appeal than a thick, creamy chocolate malt!” band spokeswoman Josette Andrews said.
Guests are encouraged to bring their own folding chairs, as seating may be limited.
Westlake Market’s support of the schools doesn’t end Saturday. Davis Joint Unified School District and UC Davis employees receive a 5 percent discount on purchases every day. Current UCD students also qualify for the discount.
